Hello Friends! Welcome back to my Genius Hour blog! I will be updating you on what I've been able to accomplish with my Genius Hour question this week. It has been a very busy week for me because I've been tackling lots of work and lots of school! We are all human after all aren't we!? Even amongst all of this week's chaos, I've been able to sit down and continue my Genius Hour project. So let's get straight to it! This week, I have been looking at several websites created with Wordpress and I've been examining their layout, content, use of images and videos, text, organization and creativity, just to name a few! So far, since I've looked at a variety of different styles, I have narrowed the top 4 down as my favourites. GENIUS HOUR INTRODUCTION During the course of several weeks, I will be tackling a very fun and exciting project called the Genius Hour! What is Genius Hour you may ask? Well, Genius Hour was created by Google for its employees and it allowed employees 1 hour a day to discover and learn about an interest, talent or passion! What the results showed were an overall increase in productivity once Genius Hour began! We are all exceptional individuals and Genius Hour allows us to indulge in and let our creative juices flow. Hey There Genius! Great news, I have a few updates on my Genius Hour research! So far I have made good progress and I have committed to several important decisions. I would love to share them with you. UPDATES  I decided to extend my digital portfolio and create a portfolio and blogging platform powered by WordPress using a free domain! My plan is to continue with Genius Hour Projects and showcase them on my new website. Also, I would love to display the products of my other passions while also adding a few blog posts! Eventually and once I get comfortable with my own website,  I would like to help my S/O out and build a website with him for his new business. He will definitely be happy to hear he won't have to hire any experts for help plus he'll be happy to hear how easy and affordable building a professional website is! Hello fellow Genius Hour enthusiasts! In this post I will touch upon the research that I have done in the first phase of my Genius Hour project! So far, I can sincerely attest that I have learned a great deal about the requirements of building a website! To this I may add that I have learned about building websites that are both free and paid for. There are much more resources centred around building webpages that are paid for and that is probably because they are aimed for professional use. Even though many building platforms require a fee, there are actually thousands of completely free resources that can be added to make any website, free or paid for, functional and stand out from the rest! Welcome to my first ever blog! My name is Teddy and I am a teacher candidate at Brock University. In this blog, I will be chronicling my experiences with my first year of Teacher's College! Additionally, I will be working on a very exciting project named Genius Hour. I will get into more detail about that in my next post! I am really excited about my tech class at Brock. We are learning so many new and interesting things about the digital world that I have never known before. Today, I learned quite a bit of new information about copyright that I previously did not know!  This information is very important when creating new web content such as websites. Firstly, I learned that all creative output an individual has made is automatically copyrighted with all rights reserved. Another piece of information I acquired is that by using the Copyright Commons program, creators may adjust the rights to the public in order to use their creations more flexibly. I also learned that Canadian copyright laws for educators are stricter than American laws. I believe that there should be greater freedom given to educators when using digital and print content because sharing relevant knowledge freely is more important than having to worry about the tedious copyright laws that accompany the content. Even though the fair-dealing guidelines do allow for some uses, I believe that as long as credit is given to the original owner in some way, that should be enough to allow an ed...
